October, 2009 Dear Friends: The Harvest is in full gear in East Central Illinois and members of the committee for the Half Century Of Progress IV are also trying to finalize some of the details of the August 27-30th show. Six weeks have past since the show closed. Reports are being generated and information is being gathered to document the Half Century Of Progrss IV. We continue to be gratified at the response this vintage farm equipment festival has received by the number of visitors who have come, and all the volunteers who helped make it so memorable. As you may be aware, a show of this magnitude does not happen because of a single committee. It succeeds because of the cooperation, dedication and generosity of many who lend their hands, hearts and minds to the endeavor. The committee would like to publicly thank everyone who contributed in anyway to the success of this event. We can not over emphasize our appreciation of the sponsors, exhibitors,and those who helped with the various demonstrations. We appreciate the help and hospitality of the civic officials from the Village of Rantoul. We thank all the food vendors and those behind the scenes with the preparations and organization for that service; the individuals and organizations that helped man the booths and entrance gates; the people movers, and all who helped prior and post time. The Thank You list continues as it includes the media, the entertainers and of course all the visitors who traveled from far and near to come and share these days with us. As we continue to build the support of this vintage farm equipment festival on a biennial schedule we hope that all of those who have contributed in anyway recognize our gratitude and appreciation for the part each of them has played in helping to preserve the history and heritage of farming in America and around the world.
