FFA Chapters

Future Farmers of America gather up your projects; big or small, restored or not restored, new or old….whatever interests you-- interests us. Join others with items for display at the Half Century of Progress IV, August 27, 28, 29 and 30, 2009, at the National Aviation Center Airport in Rantoul, Illinois. We invite you to make your plans to attend any one day, or all four days and share with visitors from all over the United States and foreign countries your specific items or areas of interest. As an FFA exhibitor you will be admitted free to the Half Century of Progress IV.

The Half Century of Progress is this country’s biggest antique power show. More than 400 acres of crop demonstration plots were planted in April and will be ready to harvest come show time. Crops to be harvested include corn, soybeans, and alfalfa. Harvest and tillage demonstrations will be performed and late-planted corn will be cultivated by tractors and horses.

This show will give you an opportunity to see in person BIG BUD, the world’s largest farm tractor. The 747 BIG BUD was built to produce 1000 horsepower using a 16-cylinder Detroit Diesel engine. It is a sight to see…Don’t miss it! Also featured is the largest flying American flag that will be flying above the show area and the monster truck, BIG FOOT, will be on site too.

The Half Century of Progress IV is schedule one year before the second Illinois FFA Progress Expo to be held on the same site in September, 2010. The Half Century of Progress IV will provide the FFA visitor a glimpse of the past history of agriculture that has provided the platform for the future of agriculture that will be in the hands of the Future Farmers of America.
